The Future of Black Nightlife

With clubs and venues due to reopen it’s hard to imagine what a Covid-safe version of this forgotten haven might look like.

We’ve all seen the images from Liverpool’s pilot covid safe event, which thankfully appeared successful!

After over twelve months without live music and the opportunity to dance and let loose people are desperate to dance.  To feel the anonymity of the club, the all encompassing vibrations of the speakers drowning out anxieties, or the magical experience of hearing your favourite acts perform live.

But what venues will be able to stay open in this climate?

And if all venues are struggling, what does that mean for Black venues, the Black artists and DJ’s who play them, and for the Black queer and trans nights doubly disenfranchised by Covid?

The climate remains so uncertain but here are some Live events from Black UK artists, firmly in my calendar!

Let’s hope they’re able to go ahead!
